We adopted a garden plot at our local community garden and had a fantastic time hauling dirt on Sunday. After our unfortunate business in Portland with some dirt that was actually largely old asphalt roofing shingles, we've gotten really good at shoveling dirt into and out of raised beds. We met some lovely gardeners and neighbors and I may have found both a source for a burnt copy of AutoCAD and a temporary home for my wheel and kiln!
Local tip: if you order an iced coffee (or hot coffee for that matter) at Dunkin' Donuts, do not, I repeat, do not get it "regular." Regular = cavity in a cup.

Good luck on your garden plot! We noticed over the weekend that our green bean plant has produced actual beans. It was so exciting! I would equate it to having a baby...on a much smaller scale, of course.
Happy blogging!
I am going to Lopez this weekend and I will have you with me in spirit when I visit Holly!
I have this crazy idea to try to housesit in the San Juans this winter and finish my book away from the busyness of Seattle. I am writing a letter right now...:)
We shall see if there is still magic for me on the island.
Thinking of you,
Kim

Do you mind giving me a call at my old (Seattle) number?
love you,
